Estate Planning

Prepare for Your Future With Proper Estate Planning

Many people believe that estate planning is only for rich people, such as the celebrities we read about in tabloids or see on television. This is not the case. Almost every family can benefit from having an estate plan. Without an estate plan of your own, the state of Maryland will control how your assets are distributed after you pass away, or who will raise your children if something tragic happens to you and your spouse. Of course, the State is not concerned about making sure your wishes are carried out, nor is it interested in streamlining the distribution of your assets or minimizing costs associated with the settlement of your estate, which is why estate planning is so important.

Another reason you should have a plan of your own is to make sure that you will be able to choose who can make financial and health care decisions on your behalf should you become incapacitated. Without advanced directives, someone might petition the Court to gain control of your assets and medical care. Unfortunately, this very well could end up being someone who you would never trust to make the decisions you would want.

At The Tyra Law Firm, we offer all of the following foundational services and more.

  • Wills
  • Power of Attorney
  • Health Care Directives
  • HIPAA Authorizations
  • Trusts
